Scholarships

Affordability is a key part of the UMass mission to ensure that all deserving students, regardless of background, have access to a world-class education. Students can apply for scholarships at the time of admission or later in their academic careers. Scholarships at UMass are awarded based on a student's merit, financial need, or both.

Types of Scholarships

Merit-based awards

  • Awards that are determined at the time of the student's acceptance. If a student continues to meet the eligibility criteria, awards could be renewed for up to 8 semesters of undergraduate enrollment.

Need-based awards

  • Awards that are granted based on financial information students provide at the time of their admission but may also be granted if a student's financial situation changes.
